Home Inspection Costs Atlanta Ga
When purchasing a home, it’s always a smart idea to hire a home inspector, but if you shop around, you’ll find that rates can vary. Typical costs of a home inspection near Atlanta range between $200 and $450 depending upon the square footage of the house.
Of course, a lot depends upon the home inspection company you decide to use. Many home inspection services are part of a larger company which means you end up paying for their overhead expenses.
At Champion Home Inspection, we keep overhead low so that we can give you the information you need at an affordable rate. Call us and let’s get started today.
How Home Inspections Save Money
In our work, we talk to a lot of people and we’re consistently amazed that there are people who choose to buy a house without a home inspection. It’s no surprise that many of them severely regret that decision. Here are some of the horror stories we’ve heard:
- The couple that bought a house because of the beautiful deck and backyard swimming pool only to find that the deck had significant termite infestation and needed to come down. Repairs cost more than $20,000.
- The middle-aged couple that bought a house in Flowery Branch. The house had two levels but only one A/C unit that was more than 25 years old. They needed to replace the entire HVAC system three months after moving in.
- The family of four who bought a new home with a basement. They noticed some black spots in their basement but ignored them. It cost them nearly $10,000 in mold damage remediation.
There are hundreds of stories where the cost of problems in the new house far outweighed the cost of a proper home inspection.

Frequently Asked Question
Are you a licensed home inspector?
While home inspectors are regulated by the Department Of Labor in the state of Georgia, there is no actual requirement to have a license. My background is in building construction and I have gone through extensive training with the International Association Of Certified Home Inspectors. With my experience and training, I can help you make informed decisions about your new home.
What does a home inspector cover during the inspection?
While we review a long list of items while inspecting your potential new home, what we do can be boiled down to three main items: the structure, safety issues and anything that can be considered “deferred maintenance” which would include aging appliances, roofs, or anything else that will need to be replaced in the near future. For a more complete list of what we look at during an inspection, check out the details of a home inspection.
When should you hire a home inspector?
If you are buying a home, the time to hire a home inspector is as soon as you put a contract on the house and that contract is accepted. In most cases, there is a due diligence period where you can back out of the purchase of the home for specific reasons. These reasons are up to you, but a home inspector can provide you with enough information to make an informed decision either way.
Often, people who are selling a home are often hiring home inspectors to go through and give them detailed information to help them avoid any surprises during the process of selling their home.
When should you hire a home inspector?
Obviously, this depends a lot on the location of the house and the builder, but generally speaking, I’d say the most common issues I see during an inspection are:
- Roof issues
- Water drainage issues
- Problems with the foundation
- Pest infestation- especially termites here around Atlanta
- Plumbing issues
- Mold problems
- HVAC issues
- Electrical/wiring problems
